On your marks…get set…BLOG!

So this is it. I’m blogging all by myself. Look at me. Way far away from anyone who could possibly help. I guess it’s fair to say this intro is a nod to Bill Murray’s performance in the movie “What About Bob.” If you haven’t seen it, check it out.

Okay, so I’m giving blogging a try to see what it’s like. To see what it does for the soul. I’ve a lot of things in this little head of mine and perhaps writing some of them down will help me keep ‘em straight.

First things first. How did I get the name “Brownout” for my domain? Just kind of happened upon it I suppose. “Blackout” was already taken (bummer) and then I gave brownout a shot and bingo! So, I confirmed the definition and it seemed pretty cool and topical — something to the effect of “A period of low voltage of electricity caused by especially high demand resulting in reduced illumination.”  I wanted the name of the blog proper to be related to the domain name and “Reduced Illumination” seemed like a good choice — for a variety of reasons.

So there you have it. I certainly would hope that writing (or reading) my blog won’t specifically lead to reduced illumination, but no promises. A writer I never claimed to be.
